Richard Moore Henderson DDS, MPH

Military

Richard M. Henderson was the son of E.L. Henderson of Detroit, Michigan.



Initially assigned to be trained in meteorology, Richard spent a semester at the University of Michigan and later assigned to Camp Randall on the campus of the University of Wisconsin, Madison. After reassessing the need to meteorologists, Richard was assigned to gunnery school at Nellis air field near Las Vegas, NV.



The bulk of Richard's combat duty was as a ball turret gunner on a B-17.



After the conclusion of World War II, Richard returned to Detroit and entered dental school at the University of Detroit. Richard spent the next 30 plus years as a dentist and public health executive.
