Chasing a Fw190 at low level in the vicinity of Bonn, Germany when the E/A pulled up and over a small copse of trees, following closely, A/C hit trees and ploughed in, disintegrating. 25-Dec-44. Killed in Action (KIA). MACR 11455.

Many years later, his friend and fellow 360th Fighter Squadron pilot Ed Nebinger wrote in his memoir that 'every Christmas day, as we sit down to our Christmas dinner, we fill a wine glass and drink a quiet toast to those who are no longer with us. Andy is one of those who is very much in our minds.'
