Awards: SS, LOM, DFC (2 OLC), AM (14 OLC), Bronze Star, WWII Victory, EAME, OCU, AF Commendation Medal (OLC), AF Outstanding Unit Award Ribbon (OLC), UN and Korean medal. USAFE Order of the Sword recipient.
Post war: Remained with USAF, serving in both Korea and Vietnam, rising to the rank of Brigadier General in Dec-72.
He is a command pilot with more than 7,000 flying hours, including 5,000 in jet fighter aircraft. He has flown the P-51, F-51, F-47, F-80, F-84 [B,F, and G], F-86 [E and F], F-100, F-104, F-105, F-4, A-6, F-111, FB-111, KC-135, Gloster Meteor, Hawker Hunter and English Electric Lightning.
