Richard Kashishian served as a flight engineer/top turret gunner with the 34th Bomb Group, flying bombing missions out of Mendlesham, England.

After the war, he worked for many years for Bell in Philadelphia. He was also a keen collector of shells and gemstones as well as an excellent gardener.

Information about Richard's mother, Louisa Terkian Kashishian, added to her Findagrave record by user 'PaulS':

'Her family was uprooted from their home in Ankara during the Armenian Genocide of 1915, her father also died around that time. They fled to Constantinople where through contacts she became introduced to Benjamin Kashishian of Philadelphia. He sponsored her to come to America and married her. Sometime later, Benjamin also arranged for Louisa's sister Marie to come as a bride for his brother Roupen. Marie traded in her first class ticket in order to get a second steerage ticket to bring a third sister Tacouhi with them. Thus Louisa and Marie married twin brothers and their children were double cousins.'
