12 August 1943 on mission to oil refinery in Germany, hit by flak after bombs away. B-17 #42-29874 'El Conquistador' fell behing and was attacked by fighters. With engines 3 & 4 knocked out, 1 crew member killed and 3 injured, plane landed wheels up at Leiston which was still under construction.
