Martin L Kullman

Military

Lt. Martin Kullman took part in Operation Tidal Wave, to the oil refineries at Ploesti, Romania, on 1 August 1943, flying the B-24D Liberator 41-24024, Bewitching Witch. The aircraft was damaged by anti-aircraft fire over the target at Ploesti, and was limping home when caught by German fighters over the Ionian Sea and forced to ditch 127 km North of Benghazi,Libya. Lt Kullman was rescued by the British Air-Sea Rescue, after ditching in the Mediterranean Sea and returned to duty. 1 Aug 43.
