Joseph Wyand was Bombardier on B-17 "Liberty Queen" #43-37624, shot down by fighters and crashed near Glauchau, Germany on the 20 July 1944 mission to Leipzig. Immediately captured and interned at Stalag Luft 1 in Barth, Germany. Prisoner of War (POW).
