Jack O Rhyner
MilitaryJack Rhyner served as a pilot with the 527th Bomb Squadron of the 379th Bomb Group, flying bombing missions out of Kimbolton, England.
On 29 January 1944, his B-17 42-31050 was shot down by enemy aircraft on mission to Frankfurt. Jack evaded capture and spent seven months behind enemy lines, surviving with the aid of friendly Belgium and French citizens. He rejoined American forces via Patton's Third Army in September 1944.
