Military30 December 1943 in B-17 #42-31274 'Sea Hag': 15 minutes over France, the #1 prop ran away, threw chunks of cowling, and caught on fire; they ditched in the Channel at 1125 hrs; nine crewmembers were picked up and returned to base, one crewmember missing (KIA), MACR 1768. Earlier, on 17 August 1943, in B17 42-29728 'El Rauncho'; crash landed at base on return from the first Schweinfurt mission due to battle damage.
