4th Fighter Group supports two RAF bombing operations: A total of 26 Spitfires are despatched to provide escort for a formation of RAF venturas attacking Caen/Carpiquet, France; later in the day another 23 Spitfires are despatched to support an RAF Circus to Caen, France.
