Note : This photo shows this B-24D model aircraft, 42-40965, Lil De-icer, with a forward twin .50 gun turret installed. These gun turrets fist appeared on the later B-17F and G Models, so this one could have been installed in the field on the aircraft from a wrecked F or G model B-24. Other photos show the plane without this twin .50 gun turret, which would substantiate the plane's original D model number.
