"Dottie" a Douglas B-17F- 45/65- DL in the 42-3XXX serial range circa May, 1943. This B17 is actually No. 48248, 97th BG, 414th BSQN. https://www.americanairmuseum.com/unit/551 No. 42-338 was the DOTTIE J III, 96th BG, 337th BSQN, Snetterton Heath. This crew photo is not the crew of the DOTTIE J III. I know this because my Father-in-law John Malik was the Co-Pilot of the DOTTIE J III and we have his crew photo. He is not in this photo above. The photo above is of B17 48248 and its crew. See: https://standwheretheyfought.jimdofree.com/b-17-flying-fortress-crash-in-trimbach-switzerland-february-27-1945-then-and-now/ for information on the 97th BG.

I know the aircraft in the photo is not 42-3348. It's a photo of B17 48248 and its crew.
B17 42-3348 was the DOTTIE J III. My Father-in-law was the Co-Pilot, we have his crew photo. He is not in the photo shown here.
