IMAGE'Mike' Kolendorski in the cockpit of his Hawker Hurricane Mk IIb Z3186 early in 1941. He was shot down on May 17, 1941, the first Eagle Squadron pilot to be killed on active service with the RAF. He was known for having thrown his empty beer bottles out of his cockpit at German targets below.
