Colonel Hubert Zemke, later commanding officer of the 56th Fighter Group tutoring Chinese pilots at Bradley Field, 1942. Zemke has handwritten on the reverse: 'April 1942. Bradley Field, Capt Zemke tutoring the Chinese national pilots- thru an interpreter to the pilot class of operations of the P-36. Labourious as this task appeared these twenty (20) pilots conducted the P-36 check out without an accident. Having now trained Americans, British and [ilegible] this work became a natural for Zemke. "Give me men with motivation and I will make the fighter pilots".'
