Walcot Hall
Military siteThe Eighth in the East
Bought by the Dearden family in 1891, during the Second World War the Hall was used as an RAF operations room remote from conjoined RAF Wittering and RAF Collyweston. From December 1943 the 67th Fighter Wing took over, using the Hall as a command and control centre for their designated fighter units; this included planning and facilitating escort for B-17 operations over Germany.
Reverting to the Dearden's after the war until 1963 when it was bought by the Dennis family and the land used for commercial agriculture.
