William M. Gaillard, the pilot of Spot Remover when it went down in Denmark in February, 1944.
Shared with the American Air Museum to be uploaded by the airman's son, Wm. Minott Gaillard.
On the return from a mission to Rostock, GR on 20 Feb 1944, B-17F #42-30246 'Spot Remover' was unable to transfer fuel from the Tokyo tanks and headed towards Sweden. Crew was forced to bale out over Denmark and the a/c crashed near Tierstrup. Prisoner of War (POW).
