Shot down by flak & fighters south of Danzig on 11th mission, 9 April 1944 in B-17 #42-97537. Bailed out & captured several hours later by Luftwaffe. Spent next 13 months as Prisoner of War (POW) at Stalag XVIIB. Liberated 3 May 1945.
