On 15 July 1941 T/SGT Stanley J. Skira enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Force. On 18 April 1944, T/SGT Skira arrived at Eye Airfield, UK, with the 851st Bomb Squadron.
On 12 July 1945, after the end of WW2, the 851st Bomb Squadron returned to the USA.
T/SGT Skira continued his military career with the US Air Force retiring on 27 June 1963.
On 28 March 1963, T/SGT Skira died of a heart attack. He is buried at the US National Cemetery in San Francisco, CA.
