Assigned to 358BS, 303BG, 8AF USAAF. Flew 33 missions over Germany in early days of war. (received credit for 36 missions) Re-enlisted because they needed seasoned crew members. Was in first missions and lead plane/lead crew over Nuremburg, Dresden, Berlin etc. Lead crew on D-Day over Normandy (received DFC on D-Day) Highly decorated. Received reputation at Molesworth as 'Lucky Bob' as he completed so many missions successfully w/ out being shot. Was an expert gunnner, credited w/ shooting down countless German planes. Was told by fellow 303rd members he was considered renowned while at Molesworth
