Military

Already married he was called to active duty in February 1943, trained as a bombardier and in January 1944 joined the Group at Sudbury. He flew on 36 combat missions, his most memorable being that to the synthetic oil plant at Merseberg when he afterwards counted 242 holes in the aircraft. Discharged in June 1945 he returned to college, obtained a Masters and resumed teaching going on to become a school principal and- finally - Superintendent of Schools.
