Marion Carl Hoffman
MilitaryAssigned to 323BS, 91BG, 8AF USAAF. Prisoner of War (POW) crashed near Pulheim on 6 Jan 45 in B-17 448501 'Jeanie'. Had flown 25 missions before crash. Was Prisoner of War (POW) for 120 days, 85 of those days were on the road 'Forced March' 345 miles across Germany. From Eilsheid near Bitburg to Prum, Gerolstein, Limburg, Dulag Luft, Wetzlar, Nurenburg and Moosburg. No shelter, no food, (average food intake overall 450 calories daily), sleeping in fence rows and forests. Weight went from 155 lbs down to 120 lbs. Mans inhumanity to mankind was very evident in all phases of incarceration. Most memorable and lasting experience in my 81 years of life.
