Kenneth Floyd Gamble
MilitarySergeant Kenneth Floyd Gamble, born 25 December 1918, served in the Headquarters Company of the 101st Airborne Division during the Second World War.
On 6 June 1944 (D-Day), Sergeant Gamble was flown into Normandy in Horsa Glider HG-915 of the 72nd Troop Carrier Squadron as part of Operation Keokuk. After being hit by enemy small arms fire, the glider crash landed and struck a tree. Both of the crew and all six passengers were immediately captured by the Germans.
Gamble was held prisoner Stalag III-C, he was liberated by Allied forces, 22 March 1945.
