Military ROLL OF HONOUROn the operational mission 29 November 1943 Lt. Martin piloting P-47D 42-8692, 356FG/361FS on a mission to provide escort to bombers attacking at Bremen, Germany. He was last seen in the area E. of the Zuider Zee, Holland returning to base on top of a cloud layer at 27,000 ft. His aircraft had sustained battle damage from German fighters. He indicated he was getting down through the clouds. At 22,000 ft. he made a turn to the right and then down. Status: Missing in Action (MIA) 29 November 1943. Changed to Detemined Dead 23 June 1945. Crashed at Hellendoorn, Holland
