John Robert Pedevillano
MilitaryJohn R. Pedevillano served as a bombardier with the 306th Bomb Group. He was shot down on his sixth mission on 24 April 1944. He was flying in B-17 (serial number 42-31768 and nicknamed 'Miss Carriage'), which crashed, and he was taken as a Prisoner of War (POW).
On 7 July 2015, John Pedevillano was presented with the Presidential Unit Citation with one oak leaf cluster by Senator John McCain and Air Force Vice Chief of Staff General Larry O. Spencer in Washington, D.C. at a special ceremony.
