A Ninth Engineer Aviation Battalion, France. Pfc John Donohue, center, Glenolden, Pa., gets a handshake in acknowledgement of doing his part in having an advanced landing field ready for an emergency landing of a medium bomber piloted by Lieutenant Robert A Sentner, left, of Los Angeles, and Lieutenant Vernon Blue, right of Taft, California. They were forced to land their B-26 Marauder at A-1 Saint-Pierre-du-Mont on June 7, 1944.

John Donohue served with a Ninth Air Force Engineer Aviation Battalion and was one of the airmen who prepared the landing strip at Saint-Pierre-du-Mont, France. He was there to greet the pilots and engineer of the first M-26 Marauder to land at the Emergency Landing Strip A-1 Saint-Pierre-du-Mont on June 7, 1944.
