Served from August 1942 to September 1944. 9 October 1942 assigned target Lille I/A, France. Suffered BD on mission. Landed at Gatwick and B-17E-BO 41-2626 was salvaged. All crew returned. Flew nonstop over the Atlantic arriving in England August 28, 1942. He was the 407th OPS officer and squadron commander and flew 29 combat missions.
