Jimmy Hartley trained on Course 10 at Falcon Field starting on 23 June 1942 and graduating on 1 January 1943. Although named James Everett Hartley he was always known as Everett in the UK but in the States he was known as Jimmy.
He married in November 1944, famously arriving just in time for the wedding having been shot down over France and flown back to base in Norfolk by Americans. He arrived in Bridgwater, Somerset with only his flying boots.
