Jack F Gibson
MilitaryGibson was Ball Turret Gunner on Bob Miller's crew with 322 Squadron 91st Bomber Group for the December 24th raid on the German fighter base at Merzausen, some fifteen miles northeast of Frankfurt. It was an all-out attack and other Groups were hit hard but the 91st saw no enemy fighters. 'The target was visible and for the first time I got to see the bombs hit - and they really hit'. Bassingbourn was closed in when they returned and they were diverted to the 94th BG base at Rougham, spending Christmas Eve in the briefing room.
