Shot down 17 April 1943 in B-17 #42-29625. Plane name was 'Fighting Pappy'. According to Strong he and gunner Ericsen were in a German hospital together with injuries. Spent 2 years in Stalag Luft III. Later became a doctor and was president of the Georgia Heart Association, the year before he died. Prisoner of War (POW).
