Eugene Guyland Cowart
MilitaryFlew forty-five missions over France and Germany as a second lieutenant. Five bronze battle stars, denoting participation in campaigns in Northern France, the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland, Central Europe, and Southern France. Participated in Operation Clarion (22-23 February 1945), when virtually all British and American aircraft flew almost 9000 sorties to cripple German transportation centers to hasten the end of the war. Later a prominent aerospace executive, playing a major role, notably, in support of NASA's Lunar Roving Vehicle. Retired as Chief Engineer, Huntsville (Alabama) Division of the Boeing Company.
