Duncan Fairlie Wilson

Duncan Fairlie Wilson was born in Currie, Edinburgh in 1921. He attended Edinburgh University and joined the Edinburgh University Air Squadron (EUAS). He joined the RAF and was posted to Florida to join Course 3 of 5 BFTS.
As Riddle Field was still under construction, Course 3 started their training at Carlstrom Field, Arcadia, Florida, and moved to Riddle Field to complete the course when it was ready.
Course 3 was composed of students from Edinburgh, Oxford and Cambridge Universities and all were commissioned as Pilot Officers before their return to UK.
In 1943 Duncan served with 542 Squadron and was awarded the USA Air Medal. In March 1944 Duncan was promoted to Flight Lieutenant.
After WW2 he flew with BEA and lived in Jersey. In 2005 he died in Milnathort near Kinross.
