Dominic Lawrence Gaudiomonte
MilitaryNancy A (Monte) Manley
Co-pilot of B-17 #42-31498 'Passionate Witch II'.
Shot down 29 April 1944. MACR 4467
POW from 4/29/1944 to 4/29/1945.
Born 4/29/1920 - Died 4/29/2011.
As you can see from the dates my father was born 4/29. His aircraft was shot down on his 24th birthday and he was taken POW. He was released on his 25th birthday the following year. He died on his 91st birthday. So the date 4/29 is definitely significant to his life. In the 1950's he and his family decided to shorten their last name from Gaudiomonte to Monte. He was cremated and is interned (along with his wife, my mother, Alice) in Pinelawn Memorial Gardens, Long Island, NY.
