S/Sgt. Bill McCullah was born 03 Nov 1923 in Springfield, Missouri. He enlisted 23 Jan 1943 in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He attended Basic Training in Miami, Florida, Gunnery School at Harlingen, Texas, and Armament School at Lowry Air Base and Buckley Field, Colorado. In Apr 1943 he became the Ball Turret Gunner and First Armorer in the initial formation of Crew 11, 712th Bomb Squadron, 448th Bomb Group at Gowen Field, Idaho. In Nov 1943 Crew 11 arrived at Seething England and from Dec 1943 to June 1944 he completed 30 missions over northern Europe. He was wounded by flak during a mission to Brunswick, Germany on 19 May 1944. He was discharged on 23 Oct 1945. He died 07 Dec 2002 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 79.
