9-Nov-42 while ferrying B-17 to UK, crew was instructed to search for missing C-53. B-17 42-5088 crashed near Kjoge Bay and aircraft broke in two. He spent about 6 months stranded on the ice with his crew members before being rescued. All crew returned.
Awards: EAME, WWII Victory.
