MilitaryShot down 25 July 1943 in B-17 #423175 'April's Fool. ' Prisoner of War (POW), Germany '43-'45. Ditched in North Sea on 7th mission. Picked up by Germans 18 hours later. Was at Stalag Luft III during captivity. The tail gunner saw them ditch, when they went back to pick them up, the Germans had just picked them up 2 hours before. they went on that march in January to get away from the Russians.
