Whilst being loaded with bombs and being refuelled, the auxiliary power unit being used caught fire below the cockpit, once discovered the fire was beyond the fire fighting appliances on hand, the unloaded bombs were removed from the area, but the three remaining on board exploded. - Sgt Stanley H. Ducki, who was on guard duty (being tour expired and awaiting being shipped home) was killed in the resulting explosion.
