P-47D-1-RE 42-7907 was assigned to the 353FG/350FS at Metfield, UK. On 5-Nov-43 the aircraft, piloted by 1LT Robert Newman, was despatched with otheres from the 353FG to proivde escort to B-17 formations of 3rd Bomb Division that were attacking at Gelsenkirchen, Germany. His aircraft was attacked by German fighters and he wass killed. The aircraft crashed at Wijer, Belgium. 1KIA MACR 1447.
