Delivered Long Beach 20/4/43; New Castle 30/4/43; Presque Is 5/5/43; Assigned 413BS/96BG Andrews Fd 8/5/43 OLD PUSS II; Snetterton 12/6/43; transferred 544BS/384BG [SU-D] Grafton Underwood 6/7/43; Missing in Action 25/7/43 with Thomas J. Estes, Co-pilot: Jim Merritt, Navigator: John Dubois, Bombardier: David Davis, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Dave Cochrane, Radio Operator: Fred Wagner in attempting to release hung up bombs, his oxygen failed he fell out of the bay, but eventually came round pulled his rip-chord and landed safely, Ball turret gunner: Bill O’Donnell, Waist gunner: George Ersta, Waist gunner: Jim Self, Tail gunner: Burton C. McDuffie (10 Returned to Duty); enemy aircraft, ditched North Sea, NW of Heligoland and eventually picked up by a Danish fisherman who transferred them to Air Sea Rescue launch. No MACR. WEARY WILLIE aka NO NAME JIVE.
