Missing in Action Regensburg 17 August 1943 with a 335BS crew. Pilot 1st Lt Walter A. Baker; Navigator: 2nd Lt Cedric L. Nussbaum; Flight engineer/top turret gunner: T/Sgt Alvin O. Forney; Radio Operator: T/Sgt Walter T. McDermott; Right Waist gunner: S/Sgt William H. Binnebose Jr (Wounded in Action); Left Waist gunner: S/Sgt Roscoe J. Alderman; Tail gunner: S/Sgt Albert G. Bergeron (7 Prisoner of War). Co-pilot: 2nd Lt Martin G. Minnich; Bombardier: 2nd Lt Henry P. Sarnow; Ball turret gunner: Sgt John White (3 evaded capture, with the help of the Belgian COMETE evasion network). Attacked by enemy aircraft on the route going into the target. Was last sighted south of Eupen, Belgium. The damaged aircraft left the formation and 7 chutes were seen to leave the ship, after which the plane exploded. Crashed Mol, SE of Turnhout, Belgium.
