"B-26 Marauder 'Little Chum' of Lt Gen Ira C Eaker's Mediterranean Allied AF is shown here in photograph taken from another bomber dropping its deadly load of bombs on the Tiburtina railroad yards in Rome. The plane piloted by 1st Lt Clifford R Conrad of Lake Minnetanka, MN made a perfect run permitting bombardier 2nd Lt Ben H Freestone of Burley, ID to put his bombs directly on the assigned target. Vatican City is shown in the lower R/H corner of this picture."
Assigned to 442BS, 320BG, 12AF USAAF. This aircraft was badly damaged by flak on the 20-Mar-45 mission to Alberschweiler. The pilot, Lt Edwin B Gustafson, managed to successfully crash land the aircraft back at Dijon. The crew escaped unhurt, but the aircraft was written off.
