The first combat mission (#148 June 14th -44) flown with this aircraft was with pilot Einer Petersen of 509th BS, later killed in an emergency landing in Sweden with aircraft #42-31192 (YB-R) of 508th BS. The pictured aircraft lasted 31 missions.

Before the aircraft was salvaged many parts were "Liberated" by locals, in 2020 the Hangar Thirteen restoration project who are restoring the aircraft 42-3455, were offered some of these parts for sale by a local man called Robert Bodart whose father had taken them from 44-3619. These include an autopilot gyroscope, a Type G-1 oxygen tank, an AN-M2 .50 caliber gun barrel, rudder pedals, a ball turret fuse box, a chin turret fuse box, and a top turret base assembly.
