Partridge was pilot-in-command for the crew's first nine missions aboard "Peace Or Bust" (B-17G 43-38939, coded OR-A) before Partridge was promoted to a Squadron Lead position. Cochran flew her as aircraft commander at least 13 missions following, the first being on 9 February 1945.

Delivered Hunter 19/10/44; Dow Fd 27/10/44; Assigned 323BS/91BG [OR-A] Bassingbourn 2/12/44; (took nav Capt Wellings on honeymoon trip to Devon 22/3/44!); 37m severe battle damaged Coesfeld 11/4/45 with Lt Dean; force landed continent; Salvaged 9AF Germany 10/12/45. PEACE OR BUST.



B-17G 43-38939 "Peace Or Bust" (coded OR-A) of the 323rd Bomb Sq, 91st BG, Bassingbourn. The ship arrived on the field 2 December 1944 and flew her first mission with 2LT William Partridge's crew on the 15th to Kassel. She completed 37 missions before failing to return from the 11 April 1945 mission to Freiham; battle damage forced LT Dean's crew to land at a forward airbase on the Continent, where she was subsequently salvaged.
