"hit by flak near St. Lo Jun 25, 1944 on mission to Montbartier, France. They swung away from the formation and most of the crew prepared to bail out, although the bailout signal had not been given. Four of the crew, thinking that the bailout alarm system had failed, bailed out and became POW. The plane returned successfully to the field"
